What’s With the Brewers Patch on Admiral Jerseys
As the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League storm into the playoffs as the number one team in the Western Conference, those who are not familiar with the team may be asking yourself what the deal is with the Brewers patch on the Admirals jersey? It seems kind of weird that a hockey team that is an affiliate of the Nashville Predators would have a patch from a professional baseball team?
So why do they have it? It’s not just to show solidarity with a fellow Milwaukee team. Following years of economic uncertainty, the Admirals were purchased by a group of investors, which included Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attansio. The Brewers became the uniform sponsor of the Admirals, which is why they have worn a Brewers logo patch on both their home and away sweaters. So in a way, it has more to do with economics then regional solidarity.
So when you head down to the Bradley Center to see the Admirals attempt to take their first AHL title since 2004, remember: you can thank the Brewers not only for putting together a team that could make noise in the National League this season, but also for the Admirals snazzy new jerseys.Keep looking, there’s more: Pirates and Brewers rainout rescheduled for August 22
