Around the AHL

Its playoff time in the AHL and the Hershey Bears are looking to win the Calder Cup for the third straight year. If the Hersey Bears pull of the feat they will match the 1962 Springfield Indians to be only the second team to accomplish winning three straight championships.

In the Eastern Conference we will start off with Wikes-Barre/Scranton against Norfolk. The Pens tough the last five games in the regular season against the Admirals.

Hershey vs. Charlotte – Hershey should win but needs to stay away from Charlotte’s lethal power play.
Portland vs. Connecticut – The pirates need a winning series to erase past demons.

Manchester vs. Binghamton – Binghamton should have the advantage with its top power play in the league.

The Western Conference starts off with Milwaukee against Texas. Texas five of the six games played between the two teams this season.

Hamilton vs. Oklahoma City – This should be a tightly competitive series going seven games.

Houston vs. Peoria – Look for the penalty kill of the Riverman to be the difference.

Lake Erie vs. Manitoba – The Monsters should be able to user their depth to win this series easily.

Final predictions for this year’s playoffs are that we will receive a competitive post season with the Penguins winning over the Barons in the end.
